Since 1977, Sojourner Center has provided shelter and support services to thousands of individuals affected by domestic violence. Through empowerment, families discover hope and have the opportunity to build a new future free from domestic violence. Primary Duties: The Donations specialist is responsible for driving the Donation Center van to donor sites, demonstrating customer service skills to donors, participants and patrons’ loading and un-loading donations both in store and on pickups and for occasional cashiering. The Donations Specialist is also responsible for participating as an active member of the team at the campus and in the Donation Center, which will include attending and actively participating in weekly staff meetings, quarterly forums and periodic trainings. The keys to success in this position are 1.A strong desire to support program participants by providing material needs such as clothes, furniture, etc, that may be a part of re-building their lives in safety. 2.The physical ability to lift a minimum of sixty pounds in and out of a cargo van and onto the floor of the store for display 3. A clear understanding of the importance of and commitment to the completion of daily tasks that contribute to the ongoing operation of the Donation Center. Minimum Qualifications: Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and problem solving skills strongly recommended.
