ICAN is now looking for reliable, positive, energetic, and enthusiastic people for a Prevention Specialist position to join our fun team at our downtown Chandler youth Center.
Duties include:
Preparing and facilitating research based prevention curriculum with Chandler area youth
Developing and facilitating lesson plans in assigned programming content, with attention to age appropriateness and cultural relevance
Completing all documentation in a timely manner such as session notes, sign in sheets, lesson plans, etc.
Administers evaluation instruments and tools as scheduled, monitoring progress toward outcome measures
Providing strong group management/supervision to youth, providing guidance and serving as a positive role model with youth at elementary, junior/middle and high school levels, helping develop a sense of positive self-worth and efficacy
Manages program space and materials, demonstrating respect for self and things among youth members
Works collaboratively with supervision/management and team members
Prevention Specialists need to be available Monday Friday from 2pm 7pm and have a valid Arizona Drivers License and be at least 21 years of age. Starting pay rate is $12 per hour.
ICAN provides free, comprehensive out-of-school time programs that empower youth to be productive, self-confident, and responsible citizens.
Since 1991, ICAN has been providing neighborhood youth at risk of involvement in delinquent activities the opportunity to participate in a variety of positive programs. At ICAN, we are committed to helping youth ages 5-18 by providing FREE programs which are designed to:
Teach skills including drug and violence refusal skills and social skills
Improve academic achievement
Create meaningful opportunities for youth to participate in their community
Encourage leadership and self discovery
Improve youth attitudes and knowledge regarding the dangers of substance abuse and violence
Recognize the youth for their accomplishments
Skills/ Requirements Ability to work with youth from widely diverse backgrounds and behavioral needs
Experience in education, counseling or direct services with youth preferred
Knowledge of and/or experience in implementing alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention curriculum preferred
Bi-lingual Spanish/English language extremely beneficial
Must be able to pass background check.
