ICAN is now looking for reliable, positive, energetic, and enthusiastic people for a Prevention Specialist position to join our fun team at our downtown Chandler youth Center.

Duties include:
• Preparing and facilitating research based prevention curriculum with Chandler area youth
• Developing and facilitating lesson plans in assigned programming content, with attention to age appropriateness and cultural relevance
• Completing all documentation in a timely manner such as session notes, sign in sheets, lesson plans, etc.
• Administers evaluation instruments and tools as scheduled, monitoring progress toward outcome measures
• Providing strong group management/supervision to youth, providing guidance and serving as a positive role model with youth at elementary, junior/middle and high school levels, helping develop a sense of positive self-worth and efficacy
• Manages program space and materials, demonstrating respect for self and things among youth members
• Works collaboratively with supervision/management and team members

Prevention Specialists need to be available Monday – Friday from 2pm – 7pm and have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and be at least 21 years of age. Starting pay rate is $12 per hour.

ICAN provides free, comprehensive out-of-school time programs that empower youth to be productive, self-confident, and responsible citizens.
Since 1991, ICAN has been providing neighborhood youth at risk of involvement in delinquent activities the opportunity to participate in a variety of positive programs. At ICAN, we are committed to helping youth ages 5-18 by providing FREE programs which are designed to:

• Teach skills including drug and violence refusal skills and social skills
• Improve academic achievement
• Create meaningful opportunities for youth to participate in their community
• Encourage leadership and self discovery
• Improve youth attitudes and knowledge regarding the dangers of substance abuse and violence
• Recognize the youth for their accomplishments


Skills/ Requirements Ability to work with youth from widely diverse backgrounds and behavioral needs

Experience in education, counseling or direct services with youth preferred

Knowledge of and/or experience in implementing alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention curriculum preferred

Bi-lingual Spanish/English language extremely beneficial

Must be able to pass background check.
